We would like to congratulate the Nigerian Mathematics Olympiad team on their exemplary performance at the 29th Edition of the Pan African Mathematics Olympiad held in Ben Guerir, Morroco.
Uwakmfon Jacob, a student of Graceland International Schools, won a Gold medal in the competition. A grade 10 student, Uwakmfon outperformed most of the other contestants and was the fourth-best contestant in the competition. It is worth mentioning that Jacob has been an active participant in our Olympiad programs. His successes are a testament to his dedication to learning and quality of training he has received throughout his journey. This is Uwakmfon’s second medal at the Pan African Mathematics Olympiad.
Patrick Esemitodje from the Nigerian Tulip International College, Ogun State, Nigeria, bagged a bronze medal at the competition.
And Precious Arogunde, a student at Welkin International School, was one of the six honorable mentionees at the 29th Edition of the Pan African Mathematics Olympiad. Precious was also awarded a bronze PAMO-G medal for being a top performer among the young women who participated in the contest. Precious has also been a dedicated participant in Special Maths Academy’s programs, and we celebrate with her on her continuous success.
The Pan African Mathematics Olympiad is an annual Mathematics Olympiad competition organized by the African Mathematical Union. The right to compete in the Pan African Mathematics Olympiad is merit-based. Participants have to pass through rigorous screening tests in their countries to be one of the participants selected to make up a team of 1-6 participants who will represent their countries at the PAMO.
We once again congratulate the three students who represented Nigeria for being among the best young mathematicians in Nigeria and for making the nation proud through their fantastic performance at the Pan African Mathematics Olympiad.
